United Airlines has exciting news for travelers: starting June 1, 2024, the airline will extend its non-stop flights between Newark Liberty International Airport and Tenerife South Airport, continuing through at least March 2025. This marks the third consecutive year of direct flights between New York and Tenerife, demonstrating United's commitment to enhancing connectivity and boosting tourism.

Meeting Winter Demand

This extended service will feature three weekly flights in each direction. From Newark, flights will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, while flights from Tenerife will leave on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. During the winter season, the schedule will slightly adjust: Newark flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and Tenerife departures will occur on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Comfort and Convenience

United Airlines will use a Boeing 757-200 aircraft for these flights, providing a total of 176 seats. Passengers can enjoy 16 United Polaris business class seats, offering flat-bed comfort, and 160 economy class seats, which include 42 Economy Plus seats with extra legroom and increased personal space. The flight duration is approximately seven hours, ensuring a comfortable and efficient travel experience across the Atlantic.

Boosting Tourism and Trade

Extending the Newark-Tenerife route is part of Tenerife’s strategy to attract higher-spending visitors, thereby boosting the island’s tourism and trade. Antonio de Toro, United’s head of sales in Spain, expressed enthusiasm about the extended service, stating, "As the only airline connecting North America with the Canary Islands, we are delighted to return to Tenerife with a significantly extended service that now includes the winter season, offering our customers on both sides of the Atlantic even greater travel choice."

In 2023, Tenerife welcomed over 36,500 American visitors, a significant increase from 26,500 in 2022. The direct flights are expected to further increase these numbers, making it easier for American tourists to visit and promoting Tenerife as a prime travel destination.

Enhanced Connectivity

This service not only connects the U.S. and the Canary Islands but also provides passengers with convenient nonstop connections to various destinations across the Americas through United's New York/Newark hub. This extensive route network enhances travel options, making it easier to explore both popular and lesser-known destinations.

Conclusion

United Airlines' extended service to Tenerife underscores its commitment to offering enhanced travel options and supporting tourism and trade between North America and the Canary Islands. With comfortable aircraft, convenient schedules, and a focus on customer experience, United Airlines is set to make travel to Tenerife more accessible and enjoyable than ever.

Tickets for these flights are available on the United app and United.com, so passengers can easily book their next adventure to Tenerife.
